Why ride a bike?

The Cherry Creek Trail goes downtown.

I want this Sport Utility Bicycle.
Sometimes I think I could be accomplishing more when riding my bike. Especially when it comes to road biking. I get bored with doing a loop and ending up right back where I started. It reminds me of my weight lifting days. Simply lifting heavy metal bars full of weights doesn't accomplish anything really. I'd much rather do yard work, chop wood, or shovel dirt. Of course any type of lifting or riding is good exercise, but there's a way to get more out of all of the effort that i'm putting in.

Lately I've been riding to class, work, the post office, the grocery store, and anywhere else that makes sense. It's satisfying to know that I exercised, saved gas, and accomplished a task all at once. There's a time and a place for training, group rides and racing, but I like the idea of getting the most out of the time I spend pedaling around.

Latest Ride

Weather in Michigan during April is as unpradictable as Michael Scott. You never know if it's going to be 80 or if it's going to snow. Luckily, within the past few weeks, we have struck it right. That has finally given us mountain biking Michiganders, a chance to hit the trail.

Tonight, I rode out to Egypt Valley to do a couple laps with my the two Marc(k)s. Marc with a C is my unconditionally loved older brother and Mark with a K is a regular bike guru. Together we rode a couple casual laps just trying to get back into the swing of things.

By the way, just checked Terri Debore's forcast, and the all-knowing meteorologist is calling for flakes to fly this coming Monday. Gotta take advantage of the riding weather while we still have it this weekend.
